These are just some unedited pictures from a trip to Boston in December.
I tried some light photography and the first couple photos where just for fun and trying different things. The last photo is my final product of a christmas tree and presents.
The difference between realistic, abstract, and nonobjective is that realistic has a goal of representing something from life. Abstract is when a subject from real life is represented in a way that isn't the same way they are seen in reality. Lastly nonobjective is when there isn't anything recognizable from reality in it. My first picture is realistic because there are no adjustments to it and you can clearly tell it is a photograph of a dog. The next two pictures are abstract because they are the same picture as the first but with a filter on to make they look like two different types of paintings. My last pictures is again the same photo but this time nonobjective because you can't tell that the picture is of a dog all you can see is the colors in the photo.
The depth of field is the amount of space between the nearest and farthest objects that are in focus. Aperture relates to depth of field because the aperture is the main factor in how much of the scene appears in focus. I started with a depth of field of f/8 THen i changed it to f/12 and lastly I used f/22.
The first shadow picture I took I didn't set anything up for it. I was just outside and like the lighting on the street and how my shadow looked in it. So i just took a picture of my shadow making sure I got my camera in the shadow. The next picture I took during a fall portrait photo shoot of someone and her horse i really like the shadow of her on her horse. I didn't set anything up for the particular photo I just noticed her shadow and I was looking for good lighting. The last picture I took during the same photo shoot I had the two people make an infinity sign with their arms and took a picture of the shadow.
Elements of art interact with the principles of design because they work together to create the picture. It is not always easy to show only one element and one principle in one photo because whether you try to just have one of each or not in the end the picture will contain many of these elements. For example many of the pictures I chose to use in this project I had a hard time choosing which element or principle to use for each picture because they all contained so many of each.
There are seven photographic genres the first one is Art. Art photography was the first photographic genre. This is when pictures are taken that look like they could have been drawings or paintings. The people who started this genre were painters that found interest in cameras. There are many subtitles to the Art genre for example sports or portraits of both people or animals. The next genre is Photography and War, as the the name of this genre is pretty obvious as to what it is about. In this genre it consists of pictures of war. Photography and War is a very controversial topic some don't think it is right to take pictures of people who have died at war while others think it shows respect. Digital truth is the third genre out of the seven. This genre is all about the pictures that have not been edited or changed in anyway. Although this seems to be a dying genre since most pictures that are published in magazines, newspapers or on TV have been changed. Even if it's just as simple as moving objects closer so they fit into a given space. The fourth genre is Presidential image-making, this is all pictures of the presidents when they are making speeches or making a public appearance of some kind. Advertising and Persuasion is next and this has to do with the ads you see pretty much everywhere. It can be used to make something look like the best thing ever or the worst. Next is social change this is when photographers used their cameras to bring awareness to topic that get pushed to the side. For example the social change genre has been used for anti-child labor and slum livings which is what they called the lower class in the early 1900’s. Lastly Cultural identity is also a photographic genre. This genre is to show how people in other cultures live day to day and how people of different race are treated.
The three photographs of mine that I have chosen to use for this project are from the art genre. The would be under the subheading of portraits some just featuring person and some featuring a person and their horse. I choose these images as my favorite things because they are pictures of my dogs, horses and a picture I took at a derby which is my favorite type of class at horse shows to photograph. The first picture in this gallery is a picture of my dog Belle in the image I wanted to focus on her eyes but still have her full head in the picture. So I angled myself until I thought I got it to where her eyes stood out the most. The next picture is a picture of my other dog Bo, I didn’t do anything to arrange this picture. He was just running around a field with my other dog and I loved the lighting and background and how he looks in it. The first picture of a horse is the horse I showed in the equitation this year named Harry. In this picture I wanted to focus on his color and his face marking and how they look against the wood in the background. Next is a picture of my very first pony Peek-a-boo. When I took this picture i just wanted to capture his sweet and cuddle personality which he displays perfectly while sticking his head throw the fence to get pats. The next picture is a of my hunter Cooper. In this i wanted to show off his gorgeous face coloring how on his nose his fur is black then it goes to a really light bay and turns into a darker bay color. Lastly I chose an image of a horse named White chocolate at a 2’9 hunter derby because this horse's coloring really stands out over this natural oxer along with her natural athleticism as she over jumps it and how her knees are perfectly tucked up. To shot these pictures I used my Canon EOS rebel T5i with either my standard lens 18-55mm or my zoom lens 55-250mm. I uploaded my images by connecting my camera to my computer and using nikon transfer and then uploaded them onto weebly.
