The first thing I did was roll out my clay. Then I shaped it to the shape of the bowl i wanted. This could happen because of the elasticity in the wet clay. I did this same thing for making to cover to the bowl and the letters for it. I didn't not add texture to my bowl but while I was shaping it my fingers left indents inside of it. After I got the desired shape I wanted my clay stayed out overnight so it got leather hard. This way I could smooth out any unwanted edges and i let it sit out again. the next stage was greenware when the pottery is bone dry and ready to go in the kiln. Once the pottery is fired in the kiln it is called bisque. At this stage i glazed my pottery then put it back into the kiln to be fired for a final time.

Notan uses negative and positive space to create artwork. To start this piece I didn’t have anything in mind I just started making random shapes in it. I didn’t find this project very difficult sometimes it could be a little hard to lift off the white paper after you cut it but besides for that it was pretty easy. I would say my piece was successful because I never had a plan in my mind but I think it ended up looking good.
I decided to be holding my pony’s nameplate because it means something to me. I did use the same techniques as I did for the value-shaded hand. My favorite part of my artwork the darker shading on my inside of my hands, my least favorite is the finger that is holding the top of the nameplate.
The simple grid helps with transferring the drawing from the transparency sheet to the paper because you can just focus on one section at a time. The tools I used to make the drawing appear 3D is a drawing pencil, graphite stick, eraser, and a tortillion.
The obstacles that are in transferring the 3D world on to paper is that you have to use a bunch of shading to make it seem like its 3D. A plane is a mental concept that artist use to draw 3D pictures. Drawing is copying what you see flattened on the picture plane.
The blind contour is very important in learning how to draw because it teaches you how to draw what you see instead of what you think it should look like. My thought on this was that it was interesting that we thought the picture would look on way but it didn't look like that at all.
Upside down drawing is easier because your brain doesn’t recognize what you are drawing. So you draw what you see instead of how you think you it should look. When I confronted the hands that are folded together it was the first time I could really tell what I was drawing, and it was difficult at first but I just tried to copy the line the best I could. My favorite experience coping the the upside down man is that it came out much better than I thought it would. I’m not really sure what type of line-style I used, it seems like I would vary between a few depending on what part I was on.
The dominant characteristics of R-mode are visual/perceptual, holistic, non-linear and intuitive. While the dominant characteristics of L-mode are language/verbal, sequential/step-by-step, numbers/symbols and analytics. R-mode is preferable for artistic endeavors because the characteristics for in r-mode are more angled towards artistic things. My experience with the vase-face worksheet is that it was much easier when it was quiet because I could concentrate better compared to when there was talking.
My favorite part of the block carving project was carving the block, because it was a lot of fun to carve out the shape. My least favorite part was was transferring my drawing onto the “EZ Carve” block, this is because it was hard to see the lines you are suppose to trace with the sharpie. The sky was my inspiration for this because I decided to draw a sun. If I were to do this project again I would be more creative with my drawing because it was kinda boring. A concept I learned about while creating this artwork is how to transfer your artwork onto the carving block using graphite on the back of it.
